Main purpose of the job:

Through the use of diagnostic equipment and a systematic approach, ensure vehicle faults are diagnosed and rectified in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards. Ensure full understanding of latest technology introduced on the vehicle range and how to diagnose and repair faults on them. Meet with customers to identify and clearly understand problems as and when required.

Main objectives and responsibilities:

  • To carry out diagnosis, repairs and servicing to vehicles in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Be able to work off own initiative and be self motivating.
  • Attention to detail to ensure quality is consistently delivered.
  • Present a professional image at all times.
  • To improve and keep up to date your technical expertise, including technical changes and developments and pass information on through training and coaching.
  • To make written and verbal reports on service and repair activity to the workshop controller.
  • To complete administrative procedures (including warranty) relating to service and repair work.
  • To maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
  • To undertake vehicle road tests.
  • To attend dealership and manufacturers’ training programmes.
  • To assist with the development and training of other staff.

  • To carry out service and repair work in accordance with manufacturer and dealership quality standards.
  • To achieve laid down efficiencies and productivity targets.
  • To strictly observe dealership Health and Safety regulations.
  • To contribute to good team spirit and the achievement of departmental objectives.
  • To take care of dealership equipment and tools.
  • To ensure that the personal tool kit is maintained at an appropriate level.
  • To read and understand manufacturer and dealership technical bulletins.
