M50 commuters set to save €1,000 per annum on toll fees if they drive a Nissan LEAF!
To the delight of Electric Vehicle (EV) owners the Irish Government has announced toll charge national reductions of up to 75% for EV motorists.
This financial initiative is the latest step in a nationwide strategic plan to encourage eco-friendly driving choices to achieve climate change goals committed to by the government and facilitated by Budget 2018. In light of the Nissan LEAF winning World Green Car 2018, and the zero emissions Nissan LEAF now becoming the nation’s favourite electric vehicle, the timing could not be better to think about going electric!
This financial incentive is the latest initiative to encourage us to adopt an EV lifestyle, and at Windsor we are here to help you understand how these financial savings can work for you.
Toll charges on the M50 and all other motorways will be reduced by 75% for off-peak hours, and by 50% for the peak hours of 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm. That means that M50 drivers who use electronic toll tags will pay €1.05 for a €2.10 journey. Moreover, if you use the M50 twice daily, five days per week, for forty-eight weeks per year your toll bill will come to just over €1,000 annually. So, depending on the time of day that you commute, and whether you use your EV for private or commercial purposes, you are set to make savings of up to €1000 per year!
