The new Opel Frontera showcases a rugged interpretation of Opel's bold and pure design philosophy. Its upright front silhouette and unique proportions combine a functional and spacious cabin with a bold, tough, yet modern look. The black Vizor, featuring the new Opel "Blitz" emblem, seamlessly integrates the Intelli-LED headlamps with automatic high beam, giving the front a distinctive identity. A trapezoidal cooling opening in the lower third emphasizes the car's solid and robust stance. The side profile reveals a distinctive C-pillar that visually splits the spacious cabin, while pronounced wheel arches and fenders plant the car firmly on the road, enhancing its solid and modern appearance.
Inside, the Frontera continues its modern aesthetic with clever design and practicality. Wide horizontal decors on the instrument panel and doors visually widen the already airy cabin. The Opel Pure Panel cockpit features a 10-inch driver information display and an optional equally large infotainment display, complemented by a newly designed steering wheel. For those who prefer using their own devices, the entry-level version offers an innovative smartphone station as standard instead of the central screen. Opel's patented Intelli-Seat feature, made from recycled and sustainable materials, provides ergonomic comfort. Smart solutions like a wireless charger, up to five USB-C ports, and flexible storage options enhance the vehicle's practicality. With the rear seats folded down, the Frontera offers up to approximately 1,600 liters of luggage space, and the 60:40 split rear bench adds versatility. The vehicle can also support a roof load of up to 240 kilograms, accommodating items like roof tents.
The Opel Frontera offers customers a choice between battery-electric and efficient 48-volt hybrid drivetrains. The Frontera Electric is powered by an 83 kW (113 hp) electric motor paired with a 44 kWh (usable) battery, providing a range of up to 305 kilometres according to WLTP standards. A "long-range" version will soon be available, capable of traveling up to around 400 kilometres on a single charge. For those preferring a hybrid option, the Frontera Hybrid combines a 1.2-liter petrol turbo engine, available in 74 kW (100 hp) or 100 kW (136 hp) variants, with a 21 kW (28 hp) electric motor and an electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission. This setup ensures lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared to conventional engines.
Charging the Frontera Electric is designed for convenience. At a public fast-charging station with a capacity of up to 100 kW, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in approximately 26 minutes. For home charging, using an 11 kW AC charger, the battery can be fully replenished in about 3 hours and 50 minutes. These options provide flexibility for both quick top-ups during travel and overnight charging at home.
