Kilbogget Park was bustling last week. An impressive 1,260 kids attended the annual Windsor Cabinteely FC Mini World Cup. It was a grand spectacle with the sun shining bright for two whole weeks. Can you believe there was 110 teams battling it out in 440 matches to crown this year's champions?
Our very own Irish football legend , Richard Dunne, was there to hand out the World Cup and medals to the finalists. The final match was a nail-biter. The U.8 Ireland Team won in an impressive 2-1 victory over the U.12 Italy Team.
The atmosphere was electric as over 2,000 spectators, including proud parents, grandparents, volunteers, and football fanatics, cheered on the teams. This event is without a doubt the biggest of its kind in Ireland, and we couldn't be prouder.
The event had a team of 150 volunteers to help make it unforgettable. The children played 9-a-side for half an hour each evening with all their heart. Saturdays finals brought grey clouds and some heavy rain. However, a few wet jerseys didn’t stop the young players as the matches continued.
As a reward for the two finalists, we gifted a VIP Coaching Experience at the FAI's National Training Centre in Abbotstown. You can Imagine the excitement from the children at the thought of being trained by the FAI's National Development Officers. It's an opportunity of a lifetime!
Another one of the highlights during the day was Nissan's massive Footdart Game. The sharpshooters among the kids had a chance to score big and win two tickets to see Ireland take on the Netherlands at the Aviva Stadium on September 10th. Talk about a thrilling prize!
While the kids soaked in their prizes, there was also something exciting for the parents. The adults had the opportunity to take the all-new Nissan Qashqai e-POWER for a spin during the tournament.
That's not all! They could be in with a chance to win the car itself! The draw is open to anyone test driving the car at the Windsor Bray or Windsor Deansgrange dealerships before July 1st.
As the great couple of weeks draw a close, we are delighted to be the main sponsors of the event and we are already looking forward to next year! To see the kids in action, check out the video below!
